Access Excellence (Archival Site)
Launched in 1993, AE was a national educational program that provided health, biology and life science teachers access to their colleagues, scientists, and critical sources of new scientific
information. The program was originally developed and launched by Genentech Inc., and in 1999 joined the National Health Museum.
Action Bioscience
The web site provides peer-reviewed articles by scientists, science educators and students on issues related to seven bioscience challenges: environment, biodiversity, genomics,
biotechnology, evolution, new frontiers, and biology education. Articles are accompanied by lessons, written by educators, for high school and undergraduate levels, correlated to national
standards (NSES).
The A&P Professor
Tips, content updates, teaching tools, resources and conversations related to teaching and learning human anatomy and physiology.
Ask a scientist for answers to biology questions
If you have a question on biology you can type your question in the box provided at the Web site and receive an answer within two weeks, from a scientist at the Howard Hughes Medical
Institute. Or, you can browse the archives to find if your question has already been asked and answered. The categories are general biology, developmental biology, immunology and infectious
diseases, genetics, neuroscience, and biological structure.
BEN: BiosciEdNet
This site provides access to more than 4,000 reviewed resources covering 76 biological topics.
BioEdOnline for Teachers
News and resources to supplement teaching of biology in high school prepared by the Baylor School of Medicine in Texas. Improvement in use of a microscope, lab techniques, and biology content
in specific areas are some of the topics. Hot topics in biology, such as the mad cow disease or the Asian bird flu are featured. Slidesets can be downloaded. RealOne Player is needed but
available free.
Bioliteracy
A Web site dedicated to identifying and confronting student misconceptions in biology.
Biological Exceptions: As Many Exceptions As Rules
This blog uses examples of how organisms increase their survival chances by breaking commonly held "biological rules" to reinforce basic biology concepts. Each post includes well-defined
vocabulary, topics to introduce discussions, and links to websites for additional information, classroom activities and laboratories. Comments are encouraged so teachers can contribute
additional ideas for lessons or units in the topic areas, or how these topics might relate to upcoming units.
Biology Electronic Encyclopedia
This Web site defines and illustrates many life science terms in cell biology and molecular biology.
BioInteractive from Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Offers virtual labs and other interactive activities.
Biology4kids.com
The site offers an introduction to the science of biology.
BSCS
BSCS has developed integrated materials at the elementary and middle school levels. In addition to biology programs for high school and undergraduate college students. BSCS is recognized for
its leadership in science education and for its enduring effect on the teaching of biology.
Biotechnology Institute
Through professional development and workshops the institute provides a base of understanding and awareness about biotechnology among teachers and students.
Biology Concepts
This site features animations that illustrate enzyme kinetics.
The Biology Corner
Lesson plans, work sheets and class activities.
The Biology Project
An interactive resource for learning biology.
Bone Curriculum Web Site
Designed for students in high school through medical school from The American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR).
Cloud Forest Alive
A website associated with the Tropical Science Center and Forum One Communication. Provides information on the biologically diverse cloud forests of Central America.

National Geographic offers footage of dog, elephant and dolphin embryos.
Discover Life
Provides free online tools to identify species, share ways to teach and study nature's wonders, report findings, build maps, process images, and contribute to and learn from an encyclopedia
of life that now contains 277,759 species. Consult sections on nature guides, conservation, globe mapping, invasives, links, study sites, and more. It serves as a biological
encyclopedia.
Doing Biology
17 historical cases studies in a guided inquiry format provide an oportunity for teaching about the history and nature of science, and about science in practice – or doing biology.
Entomology Digital Library
This is a collaborative effort by North Carolina State University, the Entomological Foundation, Iowa State University, and Clemson University. The site provides teachers and learners with
access to high-quality, expert-reviewed entomology teaching materials for elementary school through college. The program is a part of the BEN Collaborative, which is spearheaded by the
American Association for the Advancement of Science and composed of professional societies and coalitions for biology education. BEN is a grant project sponsored by the National Science
Foundation.
Exploratorium
Federation of American Scientists
The deep, inner worlds of the human body -- where good and evil microorganisms face off in realistic-looking tissue structures -- act as playing fields in Immune Attack, a real-time PC
strategy game. Users float among red blood cells, squeeze through cell walls, and scan and tractor beam various objects, teaching their immune systems to fight off bacterial and viral
infections; more difficult diseases are confronted at advanced levels.
Fungi Resources
A very inclusive site on fungi resources.
Insect Appreciation Digest
This free book produced by the Entomological Foundation is a part of their teacher training workshops which help teachers incorporate the study of insects into their current science/biology
programs. Teachers can receive a free copy and Chapter 3 focuses on insect biology.
General Biology Lesson Plans
A variety of lesson plans provided by the University of Arizona Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics.
