NABT, with the assistance of our generous sponsors, provides a number of awards to biology and life science teachers. Each state, province and territory can recognize an Outstanding Biology
Teacher (OBTA). There are also awards in specific subject areas, for new teachers, and to recognize service to NABT, life science teaching, or learning communities.
The NABT Distinguished Service Award was established in 1988 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Association. Awardees are nationally recognized scientists and science
communicators who have made major contributions to biology education through their research, writing, and/or teaching. A full list is available here.
NABT Honorary Members
The NABT Honorary Membership is the highest award conferred by the association and is given to those members that have "achieved distinction in teaching, research, or service in the
biological sciences." Those selected become lifetime members of the National Association of Biology Teachers.
