Organizational Overview
The National Center for Science Education (NCSE) helps ensure students across the country receive an accurate and effective evolution and climate science education. It does this by supporting teachers with resources and best teaching practices; by monitoring and mobilizing against efforts to undermine science education, whether at the statehouse or in the classroom; and by engaging in research to understand and improve science education.
Position Summary
The Science Education and Outreach program at NCSE (SEO@NCSE) is committed to giving science teachers the tools and skills they need to overcome misconceptions and misinformation about climate change, evolution, and the nature of science. It provides classroom-tested lessons and professional learning opportunities for educators throughout the nation. The goal of the Science Education and Outreach program is to reach ALL teachers who need support, especially those teachers who desire more content expertise and want to build the confidence required to teach widely-accepted scientific topics that society sees as controversial topics.
Role & Responsibilities
The Science Education Specialist's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Professional Learning for Teachers (approximately 40%)
Research & Engagement in the Science Education Community (approximately 30%)
Organizational Operations (approximately 30%)
This is a full-time position. All work will be in close collaboration with the SEO team and involve considerable interaction with teachers across the US. Most of the work will be remote.
Note: This position involves FREQUENT travel to conferences and other NCSE events for educators and the organization. (We try to limit travel during each month to one trip as much as possible; the position will travel up to monthly with no fewer than six events annually).

Compensation for this position will begin at $60,000 per year (pay commensurate with experience). This position is eligible for all organization benefits, including health and dental, retirement, and other benefits as detailed in the Employee Handbook.

The Department of Biology at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a 3-year, non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor instructional position that will begin August 10, 2025. This full-time teaching faculty appointment carries a service component commensurate with rank, and comes with the possibility of ongoing renewals and a framework for promotion.
We seek an individual with expertise in and enthusiasm for teaching introductory biology. The successful applicant will have the expertise to teach in both semesters of the introductory biology series (molecules, cells and development in the fall and organisms, ecology and evolution in the spring) in collaboration with existing teaching faculty. The successful applicant should also possess an interest in collaborating on the laboratory component of the introductory biology course. Additional teaching expectations may include non-majors courses in the applicant’s area of expertise that contribute to the general education requirements, known as the College (COLL) Curriculum and pedagogy and best practices for learning assistants/peer mentors. There is no expectation of research scholarship associated with this position. However, the successful applicant is expected to remain current in biology education (pedagogy), keep curricula current with the latest discoveries in biology, and actively participate in revising and improving the introductory biology curriculum. The Department of Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor. Primary responsibilities include innovative teaching in courses spanning the biochemistry curriculum, including our capstone biochemistry laboratory course. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Life Sciences Department invites highly qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position to teach lecture and laboratory courses in Cellular and Molecular Biology for majors, as well as Anatomy and/or Physiology for allied health students. The successful candidate will employ an interdisciplinary approach to equip students with the advanced knowledge and skills necessary for further studies in laboratory sciences, medicine, basic research, or related science professions, including vocational programs such as nursing and respiratory therapy.

Minimum Qualifications

Pay Philosophy
Starting salaries for Full-Time Faculty are based on a combination of experience (step) and educational (group) achievement. Initial placement is within the starting salary range and a minimum of step 5 within the applicable group. Further advancements are based on longevity and educational growth.
