Energy Quest is the award-winning energy education website of the California Energy Commission.
Florida Solar Energy Center
The Florida Solar Energy Center, along with other energy organizations, has designated numerous sets of curriculum materials for K-12 teachers and schools. This web site lists a short description of these curriculum materials, links to other web sites, and information on each unit. Care has been taken to insure that the proper state standards that apply have been maintained.
National Renewable Energy Laboratory - Student Resources on Biomass Energy
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is the nation's primary laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development (R&D). The Resources page is for High School and College students who want to learn more about renewable energy can help create a brighter energy future for all of us.
NEED Science Fair Projects for Kids!
In 1980, the NEED Project began as a one-day celebration of energy education. Today, the NEED program includes engaging curriculum materials, exciting professional development, turnkey assessment and evaluation tools, and high quality teacher support. NEED’s long-term partnership with the U.S. Energy Information Administration provides the data and energy analysis used to update NEED curriculum materials on an annual basis. In addition, the partnership provides educational content for classroom curriculum materials and is the foundation for the EIA Kid’s Page and the popular Energy Ant.
Re-Energy.ca
Re-Energy.ca is a free, renewable energy project kit that can be downloaded and printed from the web. Re-Energy.ca explores wind energy, water energy, solar energy, biomass energy and more. Build your own working models from one of five easy-to-follow construction plans, including a wind turbine, biogas generator, solar car and more. Re-Energy.ca provides educators with background information, exciting hands-on learning activities, resources and links on renewable energy and sustainable energy technologies. Teaching materials are included that make it easy for teachers to introduce renewable energy content into the classroom. Teachers can use the lesson plans to help students understand renewable energy technologies and their importance in providing clean energy resources.
Soybean Science Kit
Developed by Purdue University researchers and public school teachers the Soybean Science Kit is an engaging, interesting hands-on approach that teaches 4th to 9th graders the physical properties of polymers and oil, while instilling an appreciation for the use of biological, renewable resources in industrial manufacturing. Biotechnology is also covered, as students learn about the structure of DNA and gain a better understanding of this building block for all forms of life.
